NewFOs - as if I didn't have enough UFOs

2014 NewFO ChallengeAs if I didn't have enough UFOs, I know I'm going to be starting some new things in 2014, so why not join in on Barbara's NewFO challenge for the New Year.
I joined last year and felt so happy to have a good reason not to feel guilty about starting something new - quilting wise that is.
In the coming year I hope to start either of these in the first few months:

I'm only listing two right now - but have tons more I could add.

December 22nd is the last day to sign up for the kick-off party.  Go on over now.

NewFO on my Design Wall

Started in the last week and will be my NewFO challenge piece is a Preemie quilt.  I went to our guild's sew day and picked up some scraps from these huge bags they had of donated fabric. I just stuck in my hand and grabbed--- semi- ovals?  Took them home and this is the block I came up with.  I'm going to call it Mod Flower Basket.  What do you think?
It came out just right for a 10 1/2" square of background, so hope to do eight more and sew the top together.  This one I'll finish.

Two out of Three Done

Popping in for a minute to do my NewFO Challenge report. I only got two out of my three done, so don't count me toward the giveaway, Barb. Go here if you want to see one I got done  and here for the other.  I've got to make a quilt top for St. Anne's so that will be my NewFO for June. That and finish the pink plaid and check top will be my Nothing by UFO challenge.  Those two will be my Get it Done Goals for June. It's going to be a way too busy month what with possible surgery for DH, visitors from Texas and babysitting marathon now that school is out for the summer.  Gosh the time is flying.

Off to rock baby Alan for a short nap so he won't be cranky at dinner. I'm linking to Barbara's NewFO challenge , Carrie's Nothing by UFOs, and Judy's Get it Done challenge.   Go check them out!

Last but now least, here's a beauty from my DH container garden.  He always brings up beauties to the patio so I won't miss them.

WIP Wednesday 7/31/12

Gosh, seven months of the year are over!  Time is just flying by.  Here is my second baby quilt flimsy of the four I have to make.
The twins are scheduled to be born sometime in September, so I decided to use fall prints.  I'll put some applique on it before sandwiching.  The flannel back has some cute pink hearts.  I'll have to make them slightly different so Mom can tell them apart.  They know already that they are fraternal twins.

I'm linking to Esther's WOW, and Barb's NewFO Challenge.  Go see the goodies.

NewFO Challenge

LOL - can't decide what to post - started several.  Think I'll post the new quick to make log cabin blocks with that trim tool I bought.  You can read about it here.   I also started a Urban Nine Patch block which came out not the right size, so it will be a quiltlet.  Then started a new VA quilt plus my new applique which is from Anna's Garden. Probably other stuff I started - just can't remember right now.

I did finish Alan's pillow (don't know if I reported that).  You can read about it here.  And one other finish I'm not sure I posted in NewFO is my carpenter star.

NewFO Challenge

LOL - thought I had posted for February, but guess not!  Here's what I've started in March - two charity quilts, a BOM, and this body pillow I'm making for my newest DGS who is 16 months.
When we get together, Alan and I like to cuddle so this 18 inch pillow will be for him to hug when he feels like it when I'm not around.  He has a favorite owl stuffed doll, so when I saw this fleece at JoAnn's I knew I had to buy some for the pillow.  The two charity quilts are almost done - in fact you can see one under the pillow in the photo below.  The BOM I hope to keep working on tomorrow, or I"ll get way behind soon.  What did you start new?  I'm linking over to Barbara's NewFO challenge (on my sidebar) - it's fun to see what people start.

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
