Hamilton

One of the treats of our quilt retreat was going to Hamilton - the home of Missouri Star Quilt Company in what is Quilt Town, USA.

Ten wonderful quilt stores to go to - each one dedicated to some aspect, theme for quilting : modern, kids, florals, batiks, solids, licensed fabric, traditional, notions - even a Man's Land.

Man's Land - lots of big plush chairs, too!

Taking a break in the traditional store

Lots of quilts on the walls.

Of course, I had to buy a few items:

There was more, but I"ve given it to my daughter and to the guild's Door Prize committee. And I could have bought a lot more, but I only had one suitcase with me - lol.

If you have a chance to go, I do recommend it - sort of a quilter's dream destination.
Murals everywhere

More on the retreat.

Remember this? I was making a snack mat/mug rug for the retreat and that's all I could show of the crumb block.  It turned into: a hexie rose with leaves.  Tassie won it when we played the left, right game (or was it the dice game?).  I got a cute pumpkin mug rug from Yvonne.

There were a lot of other cute creations. I just forgot to take photos of them.

I also worked on a Sweet Land of Liberty block. It needed some embroidered words.  Got that done the first day there - albeit, slowly as we were all chatting away more than we were sewing.   When one can't bring a machine - hand work is just the thing.  I'll remember that for the next retreat.
Here's my block and pumpkin.

 Go over to Lee Anna's
 I Like Thursdays
to see more likes for the week. And don't miss Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching next Sunday.

Great Time had by all

Back from retreat in Independence, Missouri.  What a great time that was!  Here's some photos I took:

Tassie - Peyten's Grandmother

the cutest 3 year-old (going on 20), Peyten.

and
Torrie, Peyten's mom.

Peyten was such a sweetie and the most well behaved little girl I've ever been on a field trip with.  She was curious about everything, shopped like a pro and as enthusiastic as any quilter at Hamilton, MO, home of Missouri Star Quilt Company -

More later.

From Our Retreat

Here are some more items we finished at the retreat last weekend:
Here is our sample mini quilt that proclaimed our theme for the retreat.  It's so cute.  I was working on another WIP so didn't get to make one there, but I have the kit.  Then we made place mats for when we went to the dining room for meals.
This was the general idea for us to work with, but lots did it differently.
Here's mine.  Since my girls gave me all the birds they didn't use, I made a futuristic one  (no wings required) which I call
Air Traffic Control.
My daughter's.  She had such a lovely back, and decided to make it the front and keep it simple.  She gave me all her birds.

She also made this Itty Bitty Baby Dress for her best friend's baby who is due to be born anytime now.

My DIL, Deanna, made another kit - a feather eyeglass case.
They had such neat projects for us!

I'm linking to some linky fun.  See my tab under the header.  Blessings!

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
