Some of This; Some of That 8/11/2019

Finished quilting that top - already delivered.

I almost kept this scrap bag quilt. But it's going to St. Anne's (SA).

Two St. Anne's members gave me tops to add borders to:
This first one is a design which two SA members came up with when I handed them a bag of scraps.

I took a photo of their design so that I could adhere to it as much as possible. What with lengths, dimensions, and loss of fabric to seams, this is what I was able to come up with.
Measures 34" by 36" Needed to add a border to make it large enough.  I have enough of the red to possibly bind it.  What do you think?

The second one just needed a slight border to bring to size.  It's 34" by 36".
I think the center pieces needed a bit more contrast, but that's what was in the scrap bag.

I'm linking to some linky parties.  You can find them under the header tab by the same name.  Blessings,

Some of This; Some of That

First destashing:  donated 3 yards to guild; used .5 for my sampler; 1 yard for anotoher baby quilt; 0.59 for the preemie quilt, .04 for the 1797 project plus .41 for my UFO. So I've added 5.54 yards to my destashing giving me a YTD total of 67.79 yds destashed out of the 82 yards needed to meet my goal.  If I can get to 75 yards, I'll be happy to get to 75% for this year.

Here's the baby quilt I finished:
all quilted and bound.  Has a scrappy back. Mom made the top, I quilted and bound it.
I'll show the preemie quilt once I've quilted it.

Then I tackled an old UFO.

Next step is some pennies I need to make:
This project was sitting on a shelving unit I want to get rid of.  It called to me to get it done.  Hope to finish it by the end of the month.

What have you been up to.  I'd like to know. I'm linking to Esther's WOW, Michelle's Let's Make Baby QuiltsFinished or Not Friday, Can I Get a Whoop, Whoop?and Lee Anna's I Like Thursdays. Blessings!

Friday Finish

It's quilted.  My RSC block for January is actually 30" square. I'm donating it to the NICU ward at our county hospital.  I bound it with the blue in the center. It's already given to the charity coordinator of our guild. Alas, I forgot to take a photo of the bound and finished quilt.

For this preemie quilt I did freezer paper work, tape work, FMQ, used a walking foot, and a Hera marker. The thread was a blue So Fine #50 by Superior Threads.

This is my alternate to ruler work at times.  With my FMQ foot I stitched a triangle.  Then did straight lines inside the triangle - again with my FMQ foot.  I drew one straight line with the Hera marker to keep me aligned.  You can see it in the photo with tape.

Well, they're straighter than they would have been - lol.  Go here to see the posts where Karen of Faeries and Fibres showed us how to do these. I used the Hera marker to draw the lines on the white squares. I found that when trying to follow a Hera line one has to look ahead of the foot to see the line.

Last week's winner of the fat quarter was Chris in Canada.  Congrats, Chris.  I'll be sending you an email.  This week it's another fat quarter for a linker or commentator. Link party button below. Would love to see or read about what you are working on.  Ends midnight, Thursday.

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
