It's Not From Scraps!

I was thinking about doing the May Table Scrap Challenge -thinking is all I do what with my mobility problem - and decided I really, really had to make me a new ironing board cover as I had burned, spotted, ripped the one I had. I went to order one and they were way too expensive, too depressing, just too too! I mentioned this to my Super Seamstress daughter and she came up with a plan:  deconstruct the entire cover, use the parts to make the new one. And that's what we did. Used the batting, the elastic, the binding. The batting made a perfect pattern for the fabric.
So I got to work. I wanted to use the letter suggestions for the Table Scrap challenge, so I used floral. Found a piece of fabric from my stash and, voila! here is my new ironing board cover:

and here is what I got rid of:

It's not a table scrap, but it is floral and necessary for my sewing projects as I get ready to make the June Table Scrap Challenge.  Go here to see all the other projects for May at The Joyful Quilter. And I happened to use the right color for the Scraphappy Saturday. Go here to see those projects!

Good News!

Good news!  I'm walking with a cane now most of the time. I only use the walker at night when I have to get out of bed and I'm not too steady. Hurray!

So since I'm more mobile, I went out into the patio and looked around at all the flowering plants that are blooming in May:

God is good!

It's a Finish

That baby quilt is done and off to be donated to a first time low income mother.

 and the fun flannel back:

As far as my fracture (see previous post for story), the CT scan showed I had 3 fractures.  The good news no surgery. But it's a long way to healing - 3 months at least.  Sigh, that walker and I will be old friends by then.

I'm listing this post in Finished (or not) Friday at Alycia's blog and Can I Get a Whoop, Whoop at Sarah's blog. See you there!

Why I Haven't been Quilting

Fess up time. I've been remiss in posting my progress because there is no progress. Well, at least not until a few days ago.  And that is because I fell and badly jarred my bum leg which I fractured in two places in 2015. Now I've become good friends with my,

yes, walker. Happened April 4th. The good news is that I only jarred it badly. All the hardware from the 2015 break held all in place. The bad news is that it wasn't all that happened.  Emergency Services didn't find everything. Saw my primary care at 3 weeks exactly and got more imaging.  It showed that I broke my right inferior pubic ramus ( part of sacrum). That's why it is still painful (can't take opiods only NSAIDs). Now off to CT scan and visit to Orthopedics in the next couple of days.

Back to quilting:  I've been able to get back into my sewing room this last week with careful, slow maneuvering. Hubby gave me a great 4" cushion that eased my sitting, and I was able to quilt on my domestic. Finished quilting a baby quilt.

Here's a 1/4th of it:

and slowly, slowly making blocks for my own SAHRR:

That's it for now. Would love to hear from you - help me not dwell on the pain. Drop me a line and I'll come over and comment on your doings. I'm linking to Design Wall Mondays .  Have a look-see. Blessings to you all, and Watch your Step!

SAHRR Round 3

This was an easy new round once I thought of it.

Measures 30" by 39". Still odd in size - will have to work out a new plan for this future twin size quilt.

What are you up to?  Would love to visit you. Blessings,

SAHRR Round 2

I've finished round 2 of my SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin).  This one is my attempt to make this quilt a rectangle.  Getting there  - it's 27" by 36"

I hope to have it to a equal block size on both edges with the next round.

That 's all for now. What are you up to?  Would love to hear from you. I'm linking to Finished or Not Fridays . See you there.
Blessings!

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
