Some of This; Some of That.

Put a back to one of my WIPs - so pulled 2.5 yards for that.  Made two Splendid Sampler blocks means I used another fat 8th, plus the one from last week. So my new YTD total de-stashing is 15.96 yds.

My arthritic hands are a lot better, but I still can't hand sew more than 15 - 20 minutes before they start stinging. So not much progress on my hand quilting my oldest WIP.  I'm sure glad I finished this hexie center while I convalesced and before the hand issue.  I got it done and then didn't like it - the flowers didn't show up with those light teal hexies below them.  Here's the before:
So I ripped them out, added some darker ones and moved some gray ones and got this:
I think this works better.  What do you think?  Don't worry - you won't hurt my feelings.

Leave a comment and I'll go by and see what you're up to.  There are so many of you and one of me - I can't always find you all and thus I miss your eye candy, so you have to remind me - and the giveaway is still on - see previous post.  Blessings during this ongoing Easter season.

  1. I think you have done a great job changing the HEXIES around. Flowers show up better

  2. at first I thought the first one looked just find but when I saw the second one I agree the flowers do pop out more. I am not sure I would have bothered... but then again if it bothered me I would have done so.

  3. yes prefer the hexies now. You are good keeping up with the splendid sampler afraid I am way behind on it, liking how you are displaying the blocks you have made in a small video

  9. I actually like the first one, it's a little less traditional, but I'm a rebel. Take care of those hands!

  10. Definately the second one! It must be so difficult to try to sew with sore hands, you have my sympathy. Looks like you know to pace yourself and don't overdo it - but still, it must make your life frustrating.

  11. Reading the words ripped it out made me cringe. I love how your hexagons are looking.
I'm slowly working on some, but I have no rhyme or reason as to how I am putting them together. I'm just putting them together and however large it ends up with all that I have, will be the size of the quilt. It's a life time project though....that is if I live that long.

  12. Finally getting around to visiting the Slow Sunday Stitching links...
I liked both versions, but the second one definitely has more contrast.
    Enjoy your stitching!

  13. I liked the first rosette but I love the second one! the flowers are definitely more defined. I'm sure it was a huge task to take it apart and then redo it but it was well worth the effort!!

All Comes to A Halt

Sighhhh....  While I was quilting I  ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to...
