WIPs Be Gone #16

This is a little mug rug from last year's Oct retreat.  Kind of a fold and sew patchwork.  You end up with a piece that has folds instead of seams showing - kind of easy because one is always sewing around the edge.  I had only the binding to bring back and be done.  What would have taken me 10 minutes on the machine took me five days in between resting and meds for the broken hip.  Little by little....  And look it has a lime scrap.  Could this qualify for working with lime on the RSC 2015?

What are you up to?  Would love to hear. As this is a hand stitched finish, I'll link up to Sarah's Can I get a Whoop, Whoop? and Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching .

  1. It might take longer but I do find hand stitching so relaxing, hopefully the hip is recovering but think it will be a while before you can machine. Mind you I would not like to hand stitch a whole quilt! Is it the hip on the pedal foot I wonder.

  2. Glad you are getting little bits done. Hopefully you will keep feeling better as your hip heals.

  3. Keep taking it easy, you need to! I made something like this just last night. Need to bind it today.

  4. It is so hard for active people to just stand still for a long time and a broken hip does take a looooonnnng time to heal. But the less you do now, the better the hip will work later, just remember that. Give it time and keep your hands busy. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care.

  5. Sending good thoughts for a quick and complete recovery.
Last year at San Diego Quilt Show there was a company selling hand crank sewing machines. That might be something to look into. It would work I think for piecing at least.
Will be reading your progress and watching for your projects!
    Take care.

  6. I would be feeling very frustrated right about now, I think. If you were next door, you could borrow my hand crank, but we'd need some strong hunk to lift it onto a table for you. It's an antique Singer and weighs about half a ton. =) Do you have hexagons ready to go? I could cut some out for you, if you tell me what size! Or applique or embroidery? Or are you not up to sitting that long?

All Comes to A Halt

Sighhhh....  While I was quilting I  ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to...
