First, I destashed a measly .30 yards in starting my RSC 2018 block and borders on the baby quilt. My new YTD total is 3.15 yards. I'm 4.85 yards behind already! Sigh. Well, at least I haven't added any new fabric. Now as to the baby quilt:
I've decided I don't like my choice of cut of the border fabric. I'm going to remove the two side border pieces I've sewn already and cut them differently, then miter the corners.
These are rows for my 2018 RSC challenge. Now I've got two new projects going plus the Sweet Land of Liberty I started in November. The list grows.
I'm linking to the Sunday Stash at quiltpaintcreate, Cynthia's Oh, Scrap!, Judy's Design Wall Monday, Lyn's BOMs Away, Beth's Monday Making, and Em's Moving it Forward. Lots of inspiration there.
Blessings,

Yesterday was a tad difficult. Not only did I have the fun of having both boys here, but my TMJ and allergies were acting up, it got to...

The borders look good to me. Any usage is better than no usage.
ReplyDeleteBetter to make a design change before it's basted (let alone quilted!). Though others may say it's okay, if it doesn't feel right to you then it'll continue to bother you.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you wrote that you used 30 yards of fabric--lol! I was very impressed! At least it's better than nothing, right? Your little quilt is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour stash numbers are about like mine! We have plenty of time to use it. I agree, better to fix that border now.
ReplyDeleteWell, you did better than I did. I bought a good bit of fabric this month. [[Because what I needed was two new projects, one not even from stash. . . ]] Silly me!!!
ReplyDeleteSeems like a lot of us are de-stashing Angie....maybe it is our age??!! I worry about the family having to deal with it all if I fall off the perch so charity groups are benefiting from my de-stashing!! hugs xx
ReplyDeleteLove your new block for RSC 2018. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteThe others are right. If you're not happy with the borders you never will be. Good on you. It's always hard to go back instead of forward, but the results are worth it. Love your RSC block.
ReplyDeleteJust me, but I liked it. I doubt I would have spent the time to change it, but I know how it is when something bugs you. Not a big deal to rip and redo really.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question. Do you have a set goal of fabric to use per month, and how do you track your actual usage? Even if I use up most of a fabric, I wind up with an 1/8th, etc. I've always been curious.
Looks like you have a good start on using up some fabric already. The half square triangles are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm destashing as well! Progress is progress - some weeks are slow, others we'll use a ton of fabric! Your baby quilt is precious as is your block!
ReplyDeleteThe border pieces might be a nice back, or part of it. I can see them as a cross through the back.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how you measure what you are using up, but it's interesting.
ReplyDeleteI have some bags and boxes in my room of fabric and such that people have passed down to me. I really must take the time to get it all sorted!
