Applique Tuesday

Here's Splendid Sampler block #27  all prepped and ready for some slow stitching some evening or Sunday.
I've embroidered the needle but I'm not happy with it.  Think I'll look around for some metallic grey thread and see if it stands out more.  What do you think?  Am I obsessing?

Also, the WIPs Be Gone linky and giveaway is still open.  This is the book you can win:

Go here to read all about it and comment/link your eye candy.

What are you up to?  Leave me a comment and I'll come by and see your eye candy.

Stay cool - it was 117 degrees here today on our patio!  Yesterday it was 115 and tomorrow they say will be slightly cooler - hah. We'll see.  There are two fires west of us and they're sending smoke north of us.  No danger to us, but may have to get a nose mask if the wind changes and sends it our way.  Right now all it is doing is coloring the sky on one side.
Take care.

  2. Isn't this just the cutest little sewing machine. Love that background fabric.

  3. Sweet sewing machine block. The background fabric is delightful. You asked about the needle...how about a charcoal color? It's a funky sewing machine so even black would do.

  4. That's a cute sewing machine block and I agree, the needle needs to stand out more. Try a darker color of floss or keep the gray and embroider a darker shadow next to it.

  5. And I am complaining about our hot and humid weather - we have only hit 100 twice last week
    Take care.

  6. The needle does show up, even in the smaller picture. What about outlining it in one strand of black thread, if it really bothers you? I love the block, very cute.

  7. Very cute block! It certainly has been a hot June. Hope the fires stay well away from you.

  8. I am not sewing a needle on mine. Splendid Sampler is my fantasy Quilt, so it can be whimsical and full of fun. Love your fabric choice. With the heat, gardening is now on the back burner and catching up my 365 Challenge and Splendid Sampler. It is the best way to beat the heat!

  9. Your sewing machine block is just adorable. I agree with you however that the needle gets lost in the backround fabric. Heavier thread, double row of stitching, darker thread?
    Love your work.
