Orange is the color

Here is my soscrappy quilt for September - so far.  Constructive comments appreciated. I feel it needs to be toned down - maybe with the next border. ???

And also, this is what I'm working on - does that make it a work in progress?

  1. I like the contrast in the lower right white and orange star. Sometimes inspiration strikes when you let a layout sit out overnight. Maybe a new day will bring you just the right plan.

  2. Very bright and cheerful. Fabrics seem to blend together with out much contrast. Not sure if that is the look you are going for.

  3. In my humble opinion, the blue square is what makes you think it needs toning down. If you plan on using some blue in the next border, it probably will help the center behave. Or you could try a brown or green square for the middle and see what happens. The more I look at it, the more I like it just the way it is. Good luck.

  6. That looks great. Orange is very popular this month, but I actually like this one. =) It's definitely a work in progress. Tone it down? I kinda like it wild! Do you have more of that middle for a ... maybe 2" next border?

  9. I agree with Chantal about the blue. If you use it or a similar blue in the next round I think it will help pull it all together.

  10. I agree that another border would make it feel more finished, especially blue. Good work!

  11. I agree about using blue again in another round somewhere to tame the center block. Right now it does take all the attention but I think the stripes go a long way toward quieting it too.

I find with scrappy things that the further into the project you get, the more it all seems to go together. Great tip: Take a photo and look at the photo and if there is a problem, it will show up dramatically in your photo. Try it; it works!
