Here is my soscrappy quilt for September - so far. Constructive comments appreciated. I feel it needs to be toned down - maybe with the next border. ???
And also, this is what I'm working on - does that make it a work in progress?

Yesterday was a tad difficult. Not only did I have the fun of having both boys here, but my TMJ and allergies were acting up, it got to...

I like the contrast in the lower right white and orange star. Sometimes inspiration strikes when you let a layout sit out overnight. Maybe a new day will bring you just the right plan.
ReplyDeleteVery bright and cheerful. Fabrics seem to blend together with out much contrast. Not sure if that is the look you are going for.
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion, the blue square is what makes you think it needs toning down. If you plan on using some blue in the next border, it probably will help the center behave. Or you could try a brown or green square for the middle and see what happens. The more I look at it, the more I like it just the way it is. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI like Chantal's suggestion of adding blue in the next round. Very bright and fun.
ReplyDeleteIt does have a LOT going on, but if it's for a kid... I say the brighter, the better!! :o))
ReplyDeleteThat looks great. Orange is very popular this month, but I actually like this one. =) It's definitely a work in progress. Tone it down? I kinda like it wild! Do you have more of that middle for a ... maybe 2" next border?
ReplyDeleteI agree that adding blue in the next round will help balance it out. I like the bright colors you are using.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors. It's Fallish.
ReplyDeleteI came by because I saw your linky on another block.
I am hosting the Fabulous Fall Party/Link The Linky Party.
The Fall party goes all the way to Halloween. Come by any time.
The link changes every Monday at 5:00. Come over and link up every week.
Love to party with you.
Have a great week.
I agree with Chantal about the blue. If you use it or a similar blue in the next round I think it will help pull it all together.
ReplyDeleteI agree that another border would make it feel more finished, especially blue. Good work!
ReplyDeleteI agree about using blue again in another round somewhere to tame the center block. Right now it does take all the attention but I think the stripes go a long way toward quieting it too.
ReplyDeleteI find with scrappy things that the further into the project you get, the more it all seems to go together. Great tip: Take a photo and look at the photo and if there is a problem, it will show up dramatically in your photo. Try it; it works!
What a fun block! Love the blue print in the center!
