Late with Some of This; Some of That

Destashing is going slow this year, but I did pull out a yard ( 10.00 yds is my new YTD ) to make 5 masks - I know that is pitiful compared to others, but I'm persisting. Here is the type I like to make. I find they go faster than making the ones with pleats.  It's the ties that make it so.
I've made 30 total now.  Just finished one for my neighbor as he is going golfing tomorrow and doesn't find the N-95 comfortable.  So many are saying they can't breathe with these home made masks.  What do you recommend for the second layer to make them more breathable?

Oh and I made some more 6 1/2" blocks for my Scrap Snapper quilt.  That's another 0.14 yd of scraps sewn into blocks.  So really that YTD total is 10.14 yds.  This is what they look like.  I've decided I'm going to make a baby quilt and stop at 38 blocks. But I probably will keep making these Scrap Snapper blocks. My problem with scraps is when I don't have a plan, it takes me forever to decide what to sew to what. Kari gives you a plan and her instructions for the 10 blocks are great. If you'd like to learn about them go here.
Not the best photo, but it gives you an idea of what it's like.
Nothing on my Design Wall right now.  I'm still quilting that UFO and binding my No Greater Love.
I must confess I have gotten distracted by a new puzzle, and it is hard! Hubby and I are trying to get to bed earlier now that the mornings come sooner.  It is so nice to work in the morning.  We're aiming for 9:30 PM as night-night, but here it is 9:36 and I'm working on a post.  So you see how that is going.  At least I've done the kitchen already.  Linking to Design Wall Monday

Have a great week and stay safe. Blessings to all.

Some of This; Some of That

This past week I finished 6 more masks and used 0.5 yd of fabric. Then I used up .27 yds to attach the facing on my No Greater Love quilt. That's what I'll be slow stitching today as I watch an episode of Outlander.  Yes, it's not for children and I never thought I'd enjoy a time travel story, but it has a lot of interesting history that I'm enjoying.  Oh! I also made a test block of the upcoming Quilt Along at Jen's Faith and Fabric Design blog.  That adds a puny 0.033 yds for a YTD of 9.00 yds .
Isn't he cute?  It's a paper pieced 6 1/2 unfinished block.  Yes, that is small and I'm not too fond of paper piecing, so went ahead and studied the pieces needed and came up with a way where I could piece all the units except the claws. If I hadn't loaned out my tri-rec templates - I could have done those too.  That smallish row with the black eyes - I doubled the width and made two units for another crab.  Decided to make two crabs of each color or fabric.  Wasn't so bad after all.  I'm looking forward to making these little guys.  This one is the only thing on my design wall right now. You can read more about it here .

Now as to my 15 Minutes to Stitch progress - this past week, well one day I could just not face anything that day. I believe the COVID-19 news just overwhelmed me.  It was a real effort to get out of bed and get dressed. The whole morning I was so lethargic. Finally got to the computer and turned it on to find this.  It was so right for my mood.  It told me I was not alone, and it was just what I needed to hear.  So let's see where I left off.  Thirty three days ago was when I last reported - a whole month and more!  Of those days there were two I didn't go into my studio.  So I did my 15 and there were quite a few where I only did 15.  That brings me to:

15 minute days/week = 6/7 days
15 minute days/April = 17/18 days
15 minute days/2020 = 97/109 days
Success rate = 88.89%

This week I plan to continue on the 10 year old UFO I'm quilting, sandwich a couple of charity baby quilts and hand stitch that facing.  Maybe I'll make a few blocks for the Scrap Snappers sew along, as well as the 5 masks a friend has requested.

Stay safe, know that God is with you even if you won't reach out to him, and have hope.
Blessings!

Design Wall Monday and other stuff

Still making masks using scraps and quilting.  This leader and ender top is done - coming off my design wall and headed for the to be sandwiched pile.
I also made three blocks for Covered in Love:

Covered in Love makes quilts to support grieving families when relatives pass away in a hospital. They are sorely needed during this pandemic.  You can read her latest post here.

Sewed everyday last week and used up 2.6 yds .  This brings me to a YTD totals of 8.67 yds.

I'm linking to Design Wall Monday Sunday Stash, and Oh, Scrap!   Stay safe please, wear a mask when you leave the house.

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
