Some of This; Some of That

Hello, friends.  My top is done! As a pattern tester for Faith and Fabric I was thrilled to make this Lenten quilt top which was just right for my expanding liturgical series of quilts. It really spoke to me. I'm naming it No Greater Love. The on-point blocks remind me of the hymn "O Sacred Head Surrounded" when we sing "yet angel-hosts adore thee, and tremble as they gaze." If you'd like to hear the hymn here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XppXi_jZKWk

I am now quilting it and have gotten this far:

Working on Golgotha today.

I quilted every day last week so 15 Minutes to Stitch is on track.  Made 7 blocks for the Scrap Snappers so I'm good with that also and used 2.0 yards for my destashing what with the backs of a quilt and a table runner and those scrap blocks..  I also finished my blog hop entry for
Starts tomorrow and there will be prizes. My day is March 4th with two others sharing their work.  I'm looking forward to what book the ladies picked and what they made.  Come back Wednesday to see.

I did finally put that Kitty Cucumber baby quilt together, and it now resides on my design wall. I'll be working on the outside border when I take a break from quilting the top.

Just love these kitties!

Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday - the solemn beginning of Lent - the 40 days of in which  we remember the sacrifice of Jesus for our redemption. Wikipedia says  the purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer for Easter through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, alms giving, and denial of ego. This event is observed in the Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Methodist, Moravian, Oriental Orthodox, Reformed, and Roman Catholic Churches. Thus, we Catholics are not alone in our observance of Lent.

These 40 days I'm going to step back from media among other things. I'll be posting infrequently as I try to observe more prayer and meditative time. I'll probably post on Sundays because Sundays are not a part of Lent since they are days of the Resurrection, not of fasting and penance and therefore days of Joy.

As Lent is the time for greater love, listen to Jesus' thirst...'Repent and believe' Jesus tells us. What are we to repent? Our indifference, our hardness of heart. What are we to believe? Jesus thirsts even now, in your heart and in the poor -- He knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.                         ....St. Teresa of Calcutta

Some of This; Some of That

Nothing on my Design Wall, so first up - the Stash Report.  I've been plugging away at two secret projects but the end is in sight! I'm quilting the second one now so will easily meet my deadline.  With all this sewing in the last week, I've used 2.88 yds from the stash - felt like more, but there were a lot of little pieces to put together.
Here's the back of the one I'm quilting. Only about a fourth quilted - mainly SITD first pass. Some FMQ coming up before I finish.

This one is for the Dust Off A Quilt Book Blog Hop starting March 2nd.  I'm sharing March 4th.

In total, I have YTD destashed  3.65 yards  way - less that the 16 yds I should have taken out by now. Well, one week to go for the two months to be off. I'll see what I can do.

As for 15 Minutes to Stitch 2020 - all days were a success 7 out of 7 .

15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
Success rate = 100% this past week
15 minute days/February = 22/22 days
15 minute days/2020 = 50/53 days
My YTD total has gone now to 94.3%

I'm linking to Oh, Scrap! because of all the scraps I used on that one I'm quilting, Design Wall Monday because, for a change, there's nothing on my design wall, and Kathy's 15 Minutes to Stitch 2020.

October Doings

October is behind us.  Does that put us in the Winter months?  I think it does. The skies have been foggy in the mornings - a thick fog that...
