Unit 2 Finish

Besides my Mod-Mod Sampler, I was working on my NFO (New  2 finish Object)for January which is Humble Quilts Sweet Land of Liberty quilt along.  This is proving to be quite a challenge as we have to make up our own pattern to match or come close to Cheri Safffiote Payne's pattern.

I finished Unit 2:

The eagle was done earlier - it was the part on the left I've been struggling with.
But it's done and I'm happy with it.  Now to do 5 more geese and photograph my stars and I'll be able to move on to Unit 3 which came out today.

I hope you got to quilt today. We've gotten some rain and every one around here is glad.  Not so to the West of us where they had the fires.  Praying they won't have any flooding.  I'm linking to some of the great quilting linky parties out there.  Click on my more tab above and you'll find the page for linkies.

Last week's winner of a fat quarter is Gretchen.  I'll be sending her an email tomorrow.  If you'd like to win some English paper pieces, link up or leave a comment by next Thursday.  Good luck.

Things I Like on Thursdays

The peace of daily Mass, the smile of my grandchild, the hug from my husband - these are fond memories from this past week.  Another thing I like is the old coat  and leggings I've gotten out of the trunk and put into use. Lately it's been in the 40s in the early mornings, and I'm not handling this cold too well. However, wearing the items mention around the house has brought me some relief. Ahh. There are no photos for that. So let me show you some eye candy from the quilt show my mother and I went to a couple of weeks ago.

The show was small, but as always, quilters brought beauties to share.  First one - a Piece O' Cake design.
I'd never seen it in black before. Loved it.

Isn't this octopus fabulous?

Best of Show!

Love this boot quilt!
Shelly Pagliai of Wien, Missouri, designed the quilt, Hazel’s Diary, which tells the story of her mother, Hazel Ilene Hyde, who was born Sept. 19, 1936. Hazel’s parents gave her a diary for Christmas 1950. She faithfully wrote in the book every day for the next few years.
Here's someone's version at the quilt show:
While I like this version, I love Shelly's:
Just depends what size quilt one needs.

Do go visit LeeAnna -others will be linking their likes at her blog, too.

Hope you get to quilt today.  Peace!

6and6in2018

Time to report on my 6and6in2018  for February.  While I didn't get to a finish, I got my top sandwiched and completely quilted, so I feel I made quite a bit of progress on this one.
This is my Mod-Mod Sampler from Block Lotto.

It was my #10 UFO in Judy's UFO challenge - my other incentive to get old time projects done.  This was begun in 2014.  All the fabrics are from my stash. I quilted each block individually. I want to bind it with leftover fabrics used in the quilt top. Determined it will be a finish before the year is out.

At last! My SAHRR flimsy is done.  I finished it last Wednesday, but didn't have time to post it. Here it is:  Round 4 was to use curves...
