Another Month Mostly Gone

Well, July is mostly gone now. It has been hot most of the time, and I mean Hot (hottest - 106 just last Wednesday). I don't do well in the heat. I had a deep brain stroke that wiped out a part of my pituitary gland that regulates body temperature. Now if it goes hotter than 86 or lower than 60, man I feel it. For heat I get dizzy and nauseous. I have to go to a cool room and and just lay down. For cold, I get the shivers and my body temp drops. So I stay near a heater then.  Sigh. It is what it is.

So what have I been quilting?

I almost finished the Carpenter's Star flimsy. Just have to add 2" border around it to be a 36" quilt.

Begun another BOM block expansion. This is June's.

Need to add the right and left sides and will be at flimsy stage. For this one I made the BOM block 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" and used it for the center, then built around it. This will be the fifth flimsy I have. Got to start quilting them!

The July BOM block are two 9 1/2" blocks.  I'm going to make them 18" and make four for the 36" baby blanket needed.

In between lay downs, house work and other stuff, I'll be cleaning my cutting table and taking all the small scraps and making mug rugs, I think.  I'll be linking to a couple of linky parties. They are: Design Wall Mondays and Monday's Musings, Hope to see you there.

What are you up to?  Most of the country is hot, too. So stay cool and, sit down and read a book or work on a hand sewing project. God protect our friends and neighbors who have it worse with tornadoes, flooding and wildfires!

Blessings,

  1. Hi, Angie. It's good to hear from you again. Love your Carpenter's Star. Don't like the heat either. It makes clients grumpy and impatient too. Stay cool. ;^)

    1. That one will be a challenge as it is not a usual block, but it's a fun block called Air Castle.

  3. I keep wanting to make a Carpenter's Star but it hasn't been done yet. Yours is beautiful and almost done! YEA. Our big heat wave has calmed down some. Instead we had a wild rain day on Tuesday and tornado warnings. Nothing but an inch of rain came our way. I've been trying to make 36" sq baby quilts because the local hospitals are happy with that size and it's much easier (faster) to make and finish! Take care of yourself and hope you get some more quilting done.

    1. Thank you! That is why we make them - they're easier and faster to assemble. All better since I have anchored myself in my sewing room with my mini-handler on!

    1. It's always great to visit your linky party at Monday Musings. I wasn't there this week because I was visiting my son and family in lovely Vancouver, WA. But now that I'm back I'll go over and see all the goodies there. The June block is going to be a real challenge and the July block is a fun Air Castle one. Take care.
