My quilt guild is doing their annual Block of the Month. January's block is posted. While I worked on my 2025 quilt, I didn't get far as reality put a hold on my quilting as I tried to fit 7 days of activities into 5 (care give my mom 2 days). Thus I only did 3 months of the twelve and have made myself another UFO. So what to do about the 2026?
I'm still quilting and trying to make a baby quilt each month for our church quilting group. So thinking about the time problem, I've decided to use the clue to make a baby quilt out of the block proposed for the BOM. Here's what I've done:
These have to be sewn together, but I have all the units made. I'm working with bug fabric that my mom had in her stash. Think I'll call it Bugs Galore. That's tiny lady bugs in the yellow green fabric, and all kinds of bug jars in the quarter square triangle blocks.
I'm linking to Design Wall Monday and Carol's To-Do Tuesday link party. See you there. Blessings to you all, and if you're in a cold place, I'll be praying for you that the power stays on.

I was going to say let the 2025 blocks be the start of the backing or a label for the 2026 BOM but I like the idea of the first of this year's blocks being a baby quilt (reminds me of Evelyn Sloppy's "One and Done" technique). Hmmm, that could be a challenge too: to figure out things to make indivudally each month with this year's blocks (table mats, tote bag fronts, binder covers, ect.). Could be a good challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vivian. I have a book by Evelyn called "Sew One and Done". Is that the one you mean? She makes a quilt out of a single block. It's all down to the math. This 15" block came out to be a 36" quilt. Good idea for a challenge.
DeleteAngie it’s beautiful! What a great idea to use what could become a YFzo. It’s going to be a sweet baby quilt. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. 😃
