First, the mystery quilting gift giveaway is ongoing. Just go to the previous post to this one and check it out.
Using 1.5 yards to make another preemie quilt. I'm also using my RSC2016 blocks for it. YTD total for destashing is now 2.0 yards.
One down and three to go.
Slow stitching this week was mainly on my old quilt top and my hexies. I have 4 centers to go and then I'll start on the sashing.
Then I decided to do Shelly's Studio Organizing, Week 1 challenge - organize your papers. That's what I did. I have (had) a box with files folders in it for the 30 years I've been quilting. Hadn't looked at them in years, so I went through them and got rid of 90% of those clippings - they don't appeal to me any more, learned those techniques, etc.
Half that pile on the plastic bin was on this box. It made my entry into the room so narrow.
I consolidated it to one expandable folder. It's going into my quilting bookshelf so I'll be tempted to look in it more often. And that box is gone! Only 19 more to go (but they don't have papers in them).
good to see you are sorting through your hoard of things, I think we are all guilty of keeping things we will never look at or use. The baby quilt looks good and hexie quilting is going well
ReplyDeleteClapping for your endeavors!..always brings a good feeling of accomplishment...very inspiring too!
ReplyDeleteThat's some great hand stitching there Angie!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on clearing out that box. One task at a time.
ReplyDeleteGives you such a great feeling when you have sorted out stuff. I love it. Keep going Angie.
ReplyDeleteAn organized work space will provide peaceful sewing. I really need to follow your lead!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to organize a little each week.
ReplyDeleteGood organizing! I know that feels great to accomplish. I would have to throw out half my computer, because I don't store papers much any more. I do have a box of stuff to shred, though! Great to get a little done on your projects, too.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this - I had to laugh at "19 to go" !!
ReplyDeleteYou're starting the year off well, being able to get into the room easily now. Like your baby quilt. I read your post about Suscipe and your mother, a wonderful tribute to her.
ReplyDeleteI really know about those boxes reducing space....sounds like a wonderful idea..I think I will take a quick look at that blog too. Thank you for linking up with Bits 'n Bobs for Design Board Monday....I hope you will make it a regular stop.

ReplyDeleteWell, I definitely need to declutter a few (loads) of magazine cuttings! As it is another wet day I may well get on to it today!! xx
ReplyDeleteYou just have to keep up with the piles. They multiply and take over if one isn't careful. I moved a stack of magazine clippings from one studio to the next, and that's my goal to sort this month. I've been a very good girl and done some other big tidying, so it's not hanging shamefully over my head. I just know there's some good stuff in there I haven't seen in a while, and keep saying that to make the job sound more enticing!

You've done well on multiple fronts. I'm not sure I could tackle the papers in my sewing room. Just the idea is enough to make me shudder.
ReplyDeleteWow! Nice work there. I really need to overhaul my storage area. I'm quite dreading it, but when the floor's gone, it's definitely time! I'm going to commit to starting that process as soon as I finish my Allietare flimsy.
