Hey, I got some applique done! This is the Feb block for the Quilt Doodle Designs BOM for 2015. I'm not doing the BOM because of my WIPs, but thought it would be just right for a swap I'm in. It's not fused yet and I can see I'll have to straighten the unit to get the napkin to lay in a straight line.
Now, you've heard of spontaneous combustion, right? Last Sunday, Feb 22, spontaneous construction happened at my house. I was looking at a baby quilt I'd designed and it came to me that if I added a few more rows I'd have a cross. It was like a voice just said to me "make that quilt" and before I knew it the top was made. All week I was directed what to do next. Those guardian angels solved every problem I came up with to not continue on it. It was amazing. Saturday, I was able to take it to a church dinner to give to our Bishop who was visiting.
Here's a close up of the border. I was going to just meander, but right away I started to outline the flowers instead.
Here's the back after I had finished the quilting. Love my Juki!
I told the Bishop that the Holy Spirit set me to doing this. It just came out of nowhere - all from stash, had just bought the thread and I didn't know why, and found the panel square the day before. He loved it!
The teapot is adorable and the quilting on your cross quilt is fabulous. The Juki is such a great machine and a real work horse!
ReplyDeleteVery nice finish! I love my Juki too--awesome machines!
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you outlined the flowers in the border...............just so special!
ReplyDeleteWe call those "God taps". it looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteI think your teapot is great. I enjoyed making that block also.
ReplyDeleteI also like to quilt around the designs in the fabric.
You were certainly busy this weekend and the result was lovely.
Oh I love that teapot, I have a thing about teapots and this one is lovely. Your visiting Bishop was a very lucky guy getting such a wonderful gift. I hope he knows really how lucky he is. Cheers Glenda
ReplyDeleteLove that teapot applique!
ReplyDeleteThis came out wonderfully Angie. Congrats on a start to finish and with such divine guidance. Hugs, Karen
ReplyDeleteThe teapot looks so cute! I like the way the Bishop's quilt turned out. The quilting is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAaaah -- your teapot is just darling! That reminds me I need to pick up this month's installment!! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes inspirations just come like that and its so nice to see that you have made a quilt from your own heart, what a beauty.
ReplyDeleteLove the story behind the Bishops quilt. The Teapot block is so pretty. What a lucky swap partner you have.
ReplyDeleteI love it when quilts come together like that. I always think, "It was meant to be." Beautiful quilting.
ReplyDeleteAngie, the cross quilt is wonderful. I didn't realise until now that the picture of Our Lady is a panel included in the quilt - I thought last week that it was a picture propped up in front of it. An absolutely wonderful touch!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with Free Motion Mavericks!
Love, Muv
How wonderful that it all flowed like that for you! Congrats on a beautiful finish. :)
