Applique Tuesday 11/4/14

Second half of the commission quilt is done.  I hope to have a completed flimsy by Friday.
What have you been up to?  Leave me a comment and I'll come and visit as life permits. For eye candy worldwide, I'm linking to Esther's WOW and Connie's Linky Tuesday party. Check them out.
Blessings!

  1. This is looking great! The characters seem to float above the quilt. Such a great effect! I'm testing a pattern for a designer. It has been a very interesting process!

  2. Were the music notation blocks fussy-cut or did you print them onto squares? (I made a music-themed quilt this fall and I have a feeling the organization will ask me to make one next year, so I'm alert to ideas.)

This evening I'm giving my program "Every Quilt Tells a Story" for my sorority alumnae club.

  3. Nann, I found the music symbols doing a Google search for public domain images. Once I chosen the five I decided to use, I printed them in the size to fit my 6 1/2" blocks and traced the reverse templates onto freezer paper. I then fused two sided interfacing onto the back of my black squares, traced the reversed freezer paper templates to the wrong side of the fabric, cut them out, and fused to my cream blocks. They are now ready for straight line stitching or whatever machine applique stitch you are going to use. I like to do these at the quilting stage so the shapes will show on the back, albeit reversed but still visible.

Thank you for stopping by. It's always nice to hear from you. I try to reply to each and every one of you, but sometimes life gets in the way. I hope you understand. Blessings.

All Comes to A Halt

Sighhhh....  While I was quilting I  ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to...
