Design Wall Monday 11/25/13
I'm designing a quilt for a guild challenge and trying to figure out how to make a certain part of it.
So here's what I have on my design wall as I try to get the right sized blocks assembled:
This one turned out a whole inch smaller than I need. What do you call that unit to the left of the blue triangle - the one with the square and two triangles? Is there a name to it? Already have an orphan block for my first attempt - lol.

What if you drew a life-size block and then reverse engineered it using the finished size measurement in the drawing? If the measurements turn out to be something not easily measurable, then you can always cut up the drawing and use them as templates, adding the 1/4 inch seam allowance.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sophie! Draft the pattern on graph paper to give you the finished size of the templates! As far as the unit, I can't think of the name of the block but if I do I'll leave you a comment!

ReplyDeleteFun design work going. I usually end up with several orphans when I'm working something out for myself. Even when I pre-draw things and reverse engineer. ;D heh!
