On my design wall is my Yellow Monochromatic Challenge. I just pulled yellows and cut blocks rapidly and this is what I got:
I liked the blue one posted elsewhere so much I went with the same design except mine is going to be raw edge applique as I quilt as I go. Will measure 30" square and will go to our NICU center. Taking a picture sure shows how colors differ from what the eye sees. The print in the bottom left corner looks yellow to me as that is the background, but in the picture most of what you see is the little blue butterflies. What do you think?

I think it looks great! I love how you added a variety of sizes of blocks to the quilt.. those to me always look so nice. I see the blue, but I still see the yellow too. I think it adds a nice touch to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! I'm going to have to try something on my own this year. Love the colors.

It will be such a spot of sunshine in the NICU!!
ReplyDeleteI found it! The photo I first saw that made me want to make my own is at: http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=352
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is in blue and was inspired by a Kaffe Fassett book. It's quite an interesting story if you have the time to read it. And if you go to the makers flickerstream you can see it in its full size. Enjoy!
I can see why you were inspired to make this quilt! That blue one, and the story that goes with it, is fantastic! Good luck with it! I have too many other quilt obligations to get into this monochromatic challenge but I'm going to have fun seeing what you and other quilters do with ti!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is bright. I love your raw edge applique idea. I did a quilt as you go quilt that way and it came together SO fast.
ReplyDeleteI like yellows and this quilt is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOOH! This one looks great! Full of sunshine! A great way getting rid of certain colors from your stash. Love the Christmas runner and the rolling 9-patch blocks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of yellow quilts but this caught my eye and I love it, the added touch of colour brings out the yellows even more, stay with it, it's fantastic. Cheers Glenda
