What I've been up to as of 7/18/21

It's been a while  - How are you?  I've been pretty busy with my Mom, but she's in Houston for two weeks.  The weather has been hot - 103 today. My poor plants are barely making it.  Here's a few things I've been able to manage:

Our St. Anne's Sewdality finally got to meet in person again a couple of weeks ago.  This is a church group that gets together once a month to make baby quilts for low income families in our parish. I had one to turn in plus 3 quilt tops for members to work on.  Here's mine - you've seen it before, but not finished:

  and the back:

Here's one of the 25 turned in - all from scraps!  We were quarantined but busy.

I finished and am quilting my panel challenge for our guild meeting next Tuesday.  This will be our first in person meeting since March of 2020.  We had zoom meetings, but it's just not the same.  I'll share a photo next time.

Hope you are all well and staying cool if you are in the contiguous US.  Wherever you are, I send Blessings and hugs,

Some of This; Some of That

Let's start with the positive stuff. I was able to put in 15 Minutes to Stitch every day this week because I'm still sheltering in place.  I only go out about once every ten days usually just to use the car.  Surprisingly, most days it doesn't bother me to be home with DH doing things around the house, or reading, or quilting, or gardening, or working on a jigsaw puzzle,
Here's the one we just finished.  You know it's hard when you have to use a magnifying glass to check color changes.

or a little housework. Notice what came last.  Some days I wonder if this is what (in a very loose way) cloistered nuns feel when they dedicate themselves to a cell for days on end.  I'll have to research that. My numbers now are

15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
15 minute days/May = 15/16 days
15 minute days/2020 = 121/137 days
Success rate = 88.32%

Now for the destashing.  I made two masks for my BFF.  Here they are:

They only took 20 minutes each, and used up .39 yd.  I also made a "4 in a 4 in a 4" as shown on Em's Scrapbag.  That used up 0.53 yd.

Then I made three  more crabs - I'm up to 4 - for another 0.17 yd. So my new total is 11.23 yds I may have to halve my desired total for the year to 50 yards to come anywhere near a goal.

So what else is new? Well that scrap snapper baby quilt top is a flimsy now and off to the "to be sandwiched pile".  You can see my four crabs above it.

I'm still quilting that UFO and hand stitching my facing on my No Greater Love quilt.  I should be done with that this evening as I don't have much more to do - less than one edge.

Take care, be safe - please continue to wear a mask and socially distance, now especially as we move slowly toward normal.  This is a ever mutating bug and it will be a while til we have a vaccine.

Blessing to you all.  I'm linking to Design Wall Monday, Faith and Fabric Quilt AlongSunday Stash Report, 15 Minutes to Stitch, and Oh, Scrap!.  Come on by.

Some of This; Some of That

First the destashing.  Made a baby quilt top using a you-tube tutorial for a half log cabin block.  She used a layer cake to make hers.  I used 20" squares of two fabrics that made the whole top.  Here it is:
Lighting is bad, but you get the idea.

The two Christmas prints.
This came out to 36" square - just the right size for a St. Anne's baby quilt.  Used 1.1 yds total of two fabrics to make this top. Worked on my SLOL quilt and am adding borders. Used only 0.09 for that. Sanwiched my SLOL, too, and used 1.43 yds.  I am now quilting it.  So my new YTD total is  70.41 yds destashed out of the 84 yards needed to meet my goal.

My Friday finish that I didn't get to post was a preemie quilt.

and delivered to the NICU
This was a completely scrappy quilt. I used a disappearing nine patch pattern.

What are you up to?  I'd love to come by your blog and see your project - please leave me a comment..  I'm linking to Sunday Stash and Esther's WOW. Lots of goodies there. Blessings,

Progrees is Made

Progress is made, at least some.  More blocks were added to the baby quilt I was working on (see previous post). More scraps were used. I...
