I Won!

Woohoo!  I won a copy of Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks  just released and on sale now.  At Quiltmaker's blog, Quilty Pleasures, they had a giveaway of 20 copies and I got lucky.  I won one of the ones picked from Twitter.  Here's what they say about getting a copy:

"Quilts from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks will sell out quickly so when you see it locally, grab a copy while you can. We recommend buying it from your area quilt shop. Other places to try are Barnes & Noble, JoAnn, Hobby Lobby and many grocery stores. If you can’t find it locally, you might ask the manager to get it (this issue will remain available to retailers long after the grocery stores have sold out). If you can’t find it locally, you can order it from QuiltandSewShop.com."  If you want to see all of the projects, just go on over to their blog (they're on my blog list) and scroll down to the main post about this issue.  There are some gorgeous quilts in there.

Favorite Things Friday

The calendar says Winter, but really Spring has snuck in around here. And it's showing:
Freesias all abloom.

Here come the geraniums!

A volunteer sweet pea plus a kalenchoe.

Do you get a picture of the colors I like?
This bougenvillea is spectacular in its response to lack of rain!  Found these when I went out for a walk to stop feeling sorry for myself and ignore my malaise.  Weatherman says it will be cold next week.  We have to enjoy while we can.

I'm linking to Shay's Favorite Things Friday party - always nice things to look at there.  Go on by - button on sidebar.

Thank you!

Thank you all for sharing your wonderful eye candy, sending good wishes and prayers. They are most appreciated.  You are so thoughtful. We still don't know anything (still feel crappy, but beginning to think now it is the meds she gave me).  Yesterday, decided to do something mindless and found myself drawn to making the string blocks for the Craftsy BOM.  There is something soothing about just sewing strips together.  Of course I had to change it.  I made the Spiderweb block first.  By the time I got ready to make the other one, was running out of steam, so just used a stripe instead of strips. I'm getting an idea for the setting of these blocks.
First block I made is on right.  Do your seams seem so pronounced?  Maybe it was the way I ironed them.  Oh, well - off to have a warm cup of water.  Take care!

Applique Thursday Not

Still feeling poorly - had a bunch of tests today.  Docs are cogitating what is wrong. Felt best this morning, but now am off to bed.  Alas, didn't feel up to much once home from the lab - did finish that charity quilt - just straight seams - a squishy back, no batting.  The back is kinda of like minky - so soft and thick. Down hill from there.  Pick up my hoop once in a while, so this is as far as I've gotten on that.

Sure could use some eye candy.  Share yours, please.

Design Wall Monday 3/5/12

Haven't done any sewing since Thursday. I babysat two of my DGKs Friday-Saturday and then promptly got sick as they went out the door. Up from the sick to see what you're up to. If you want to see what other's are doing go to Judy's Patchwork Times on my sidebar. Here's where I stopped Thursday - a charity tube quilt in construction:

Stash Report 3/4/12

Go on over to Judy's Patchwork Times and see how others are doing (on sidebar). Back to bed.

Another Flimsy

I'm making the Raincross Quilt Guild's Block of the Month into baby quilts each month instead of blocks for an eventual quilt. Why? ...
