Actually, the prompt for 5 was make 4 of something. So I chose four patch, and actually since that made my quilt 35" square, I decide to not do round 6 as it was a number or a letter, and since I had done 4 of something for round 5 felt that it would do for round 6. This baby quilt will be donated to our church's project for low income, first Angie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-70986481794644583412024-02-16T13:47:00.000-08:002024-02-16T13:49:47.823-08:00SAHRR Round 4 Gosh, I can't get the photo to be as bright as it is. Don't know what's wrong. But here it is - that's a much brighter purple:Measures 25 1/2" square now. I'm enjoying these little kitties and discovering how to use them. I made a sample square in a square and used that to get the heads of my kitties in the right place. Half square triangle blocks in the corners did it for me as I wanted to continue the color scheme of the center block. I also finished a WIP. This was my last flimsy finish for 2023. Why do I make flimsies? I belong to a church group that makes quilts for low income, first time mothers. Some of my sister members have a hard time getting past making blocks and so I help out by making them a top that they can then sandwich, quilt, and bind. This gives them something to present during our Show and Share part Angie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-90578850398386386052023-11-18T22:23:00.000-08:002023-11-18T22:23:37.868-08:00Another Flimsy Another flimsy for St. Anne's :Made from scraps. And then I read or make a puzzle. Lately, I worked on a puzzle. In a way it was quilt related as it was titled Common Quilt Block Patterns. At a 1000 pieces it was fun and challenging to do. I was amazed how varied and striking these common blocks turned out. How many can you name?Have a wonderful day!Blessings,Angie in SoCalAngie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-42113804982327636872023-09-16T13:05:00.023-07:002023-09-16T14:22:11.144-07:00It's Two FlimsiesAn I Spy flimsy. It looks a little wonky in the photo, but laid flat, it is even all around measuring 35" by 42".I'm quilting another charity quilt - one which I was given some cat fabric and asked to make a quilt out of it for St. Anne's. Measures 36" square.Lastly, is my leader and ender project. The block was an hourglass. Mainly the heat gets to me since I had near heat stroke in 2002. Now when it get to 95, I start to feel queasy, yuck. Went to WA for a family reunion. It was fun and so good to see my #1 son and his family (WA), and daughter's family (CA)plus #2 son and family(CO) all together. In Honor of Flag Day, June 14th, I call it, and it is a pattern by Fons and Porter in their Stars and Stripes Sampler book. They made a lap quilt. I chose to do a wall hanging.A close up of the quilt:The EagleSorry they weren't better photos. It's a finish! That is a finished coverlet. That's two layers with some quilting and bound. 36" square for a low income first time mother. We're switching to coverlets because the weather will get hot here. Last year we had 113 degree days in August. And for the back some of that cute camping flannel I had left over. At last - Round 4 of my SAHRR. If you don't know what that means it's the acronym for Stay At Home Round Robin. With my steady 15 minutes a day (well some days plus my mobility issues) I've managed to put it together.I'm off now to consider treatments for round 5. My inspiration for round 4 came from Barbara Black's Stars in a Time Warp .Was going to follow it with some of Angie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-71232495597618604242023-05-29T11:53:00.005-07:002023-05-29T12:55:34.108-07:00It's Not From Scraps!I was thinking about doing the May Table Scrap Challenge -thinking is all I do what with my mobility problem - and decided I really, really had to make me a new ironing board cover as I had burned, spotted, ripped the one I had. I went to order one and they were way too expensive, too depressing, just too too! I mentioned this to my Super Seamstress daughter and she came up with a plan: Angie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-22200271183005702882023-05-27T17:29:00.002-07:002023-05-27T17:29:55.554-07:00Good News!Good news! I'm walking with a cane now most of the time. I only use the walker at night when I have to get out of bed and I'm not too steady. Hurray! So since I'm more mobile, I went out into the patio and looked around at all the flowering plants that are blooming in May:God is good! The good news no surgery. But it's a long way to healing - 3 months at least. Sigh, that walker and I will be old friends by then. I'm listing this post in Finished (or Angie in SoCalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898319078722104728.post-33883899326506663602023-05-01T12:27:00.002-07:002023-05-01T12:27:47.951-07:00Why I Haven't been Quilting Fess up time. I've been remiss in posting my progress because there is no progress. Well, at least not until a few days ago. And that is because I fell and badly jarred my bum leg which I fractured in two places in 2015. Now I've become good friends with my,yes, walker. Happened April 4th. The good news is that I only jarred it badly.
