Applique Tuesday

This may not seem like applique, but we're suppose to applique the star/flower onto a square.  So it counts for me as applique. My problem is I don't know which layout I prefer. For the star, I also have to decide if I want a center or not. Take a look and give me your opinion, please.

This block is for the Soupçon QAL that is going on now at Faeries and Fibres .  The next installment comes out this Friday, so I have to make up my mind soon.  I'm linking to Connie's Linky Tuesday and Esther's WOW as well as Sarah's Help for Hexaholics.  See the beauties there.

Both look terrific. I like the open look as well as the fussy cut. You have covered both Applique Tuesday and Hexie Friday...:)

i prefer the second picture. the closed one.
with the material i cut for the same bom, when i put them
together as a star with a hole in the middle, they are not as stunning as when i put them together with no hole in the middle.

I prefer the look of the closed one. I am doing this too and dame the star version. Perhaps you should make the decision after seeing what the next part brings.

I love the closed because it kinda makes the design of the fabric tie together. But then I love the star because it opens up and makes the design airy and light.
So .... I'm no help. lol
I'm making these too and have the same problem. I settled on the star for mine. Good luck deciding.
Amazing how different they are! Lovely :)

Hello! My preference is the flower but if you aren't sure why not hang on until Friday when I release the next part of the pattern? Once you know what is coming it might be a little easier to make the decision (or not)!

Both ways looks wonderful, so it would be hard to decide...

oh they are both fantastic. I say make one of each :)

I like them both but am partial to the open work on the first one. Wait until the next part is posted and that might help you decide OR just make another set and you can't go wrong. :) Love the colors and that fabric.

I love the kaleidoscope aspect of the closed one better.

I prefer the star - but love the careful fussy cutting to get that extra pattern on either design - great! I'm sure that you are going to be happy with which ever one you choose!

I like both of them....if I had to choose, I would say the first one.

They both are neat but I think I like the first one best! Thanks for sharing.

Looking great! wonderful blue material!
Both are intriguing. Why not make up both of them ... or more. I find that playing with these is like eating popcorn ;-)

It's a hard decision - the open/star pulls the gold into the center nicely but the closed/star shows your wonderful fussy cutting. If forced to decide I think it would be the second option. Either way will be fabulous!
