It's Hexie Friday!

Another Friday already?  Time sure flies by when one has a ton of things to do.  I made some progress - barely. Got the first flower done and on to the second. I'm enjoying using the glue pen.  See a video about it here. When I can get to these, I can prep them pretty quickly and get on with the sewing.  I'm not too happy with the thread I used on the second one.  What would be appropriate for sewing together two such disparate colors.  I'd use invisible thread but I can't see where I'm sewing, much less thread the needle - LOL.  Suggestions?

I'm anxious to see what Billie did.  I'll have to go to her blog and see her progress.  Last I saw she'd done some slow stitching on Sunday.  That sounds so comfy and restful.  I'll have to pull out my embroidery block and try it - or make some hexies on Sunday - hehe.  Okay, no pressure, Billie.  I know perfectly well how life can change any and all plans. Like yesterday, I thought I was going to spend some time at the hospital, but Thanks be to God, I didn't .  You can read about it on my Applique Thursday post if you're curious.

Now since it's Hexie Friday, I saved links I came across that had hexies.  Here are three to browse for hexie fun:  Raconteur , a mug rug , and a free project .

The pull of the hexagon is still strong.  In fact Quiltmaker for the May/June issue features them.

I have an extra copy. Let's have a giveaway and share it with someone. Leave a comment and you'll be in the running.  And we have a linky - please share your hexie project - we'd love to see what you are doing with this versatile shape (same linky will be on Billie's blog).  Links give you a second chance to win the issue, too.  Look forward to seeing your eye candy!

  3. When in doubt (about thread color), I use a light or medium gray. Usually it blends if the value is close to that of the fabrics, but if it shows, it will look like a shadow.

I'd love to win a copy of the magazine; since Anita Grossman blogged about her two-sided hexagons, I've been wanting to find a copy.

  4. Well I remembered to link up. That quilt on the cover of the magazine is awesome. Thanks for chance to win the magazine.
Sophie's idea is good. I use gray most times when I have different colors going together.
Off to see those that linked up.

  5. Doh - my Friday was so busy with out of town company that I forgot to get my hexie post ready. I even did my first AHHH to show. Well, there's always next week. In the meantime, I will troll the links b/c the projects look so pretty!

I have gray and beige thread that I use a lot for two different colors. The gray seems to work best.

  6. Angie I have most of a twin done for a Grandmother's Flower Garden. Most are done in a light or a dark. No color matching really. The thread really shouldn't show. I am trying to finish it for the Grandaughter of a friend who beat me to heaven. She is old enough she is going to help make some of them now too so maybe together we will get it all done !!!

  7. Hexagons are great fun! I've been working on a project since the late 80s with the 3/4" side hexagons, and now one with 2" sides. They are just so relaxing!

    1. Oh, thread. On my red one, I'm using red on everything, but on my multicolor one, I've used a light medium gray throughout.

All Comes to A Halt

Sighhhh....  While I was quilting I  ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to...
