Design Wall 9/5/11

Happy Labor Day!
Up on my design wall is my practice block for back basting.  It's a little farther along than thursday and I'm feeling better about doing it by hand.  But those circles are still the biggest challenge on it. Must keep trying!
I hope to work some more on my ufos this week and keep playing with a block our guild's prez would like to be used in out BOM program.  We'll see.

What's on your design wall?  I'd love to see. Go over the Judy's Patchwork times (you'll find her button on my left sidebar) and share a link to yours and we'll all admire the eye candy(not that mine's eye candy - LOL). Thanks!

  2. Ah yes, back basting! I have used this for larger pieces, like baskets, but never for a circle before. My favorite method for circles is to make a cardboard template, trace it on the back of the fabric, run gathering stitches just outside the line, cut out the circle plus seam allowance and gather the fabric around the template. When used with a steam iron, or a little starch it keeps it's shape well, even when you remove the template. This method gives nice smooth curves, ever try it? Thanks for your comment over at Cut'n It Up. I have been a staunch piecer until this year and now I am learning patience and practicing my appliqué technique a lot by adding appliqué to my pieced tops.

Thank you for stopping by. It's always nice to hear from you. I try to reply to each and every one of you, but sometimes life gets in the way. I hope you understand. Blessings.
